About the project
VIEWS seeks to address the significant gap in awareness and implementation of inclusive volunteering programmes across regular (non-disability specific) sports organisations. Its goal is to empower sport organisations and individuals with disabilities as beneficiaries, fostering a more diverse and vibrant sports community. Inclusive volunteering not only enables active participation in events, daily work, and activities but also aligns with broader societal efforts to create accessible and welcoming environments. Recognsing the impact of the entertainment industry as a reflection of societal values, having people with disabilities as volunteering role models brings visibility and creates spaces for increased opportunities on personal and professional fronts.
The objectives are:
-
Creating more accessible volunteering opportunities through infrastructure improvements and the provision of accessible information.
-
Changing societal attitudes through awareness campaigns that highlight the contributions and capabilities of volunteers with disabilities.
-
Offering tailored training programs that equip volunteers with disabilities with the necessary skills and confidence to participate effectively
By providing resources, raising awareness and facilitating collaboration, the VIEWS project endeavours to make inclusive volunteering a sustainable and integral part of the sports community. Through targeted interventions, the project seeks to break down barriers, ensuring that inclusivity becomes not only a trend but an enduring feature, contributing to a more equitable and inclusive future in the world of sports.
