International Volunteer Year 2026
International Volunteer Year 2026
The UN declared 2026 as the International Volunteer Year (IVY2026), an important recognition and celebration of the role of volunteers and volunteering as key drivers of sustainable development. This year, when we also celebrate the 30th anniversary of the EU Youth and Solidarity Programmes, offers a crucial opportunity to strengthen a European vision of volunteering as a democratic, rights-based, free and conscious act, embedded in civic space and grounded in multilateralism and peace. IVY206 will highlight how volunteering and volunteer-driven action contribute to progress and development on diverse issues, particularly sustainability, climate, inclusion and community resilience.
